Insulated tanks for ARE D chilled water are normally used to in-crease the thermal inertia of the type of Layout 2 system. They are fitted with diffusing pipes which directly connect the two circuits con-nected to the tank. Energy is given to or taken away from the storage tank through circumferential holes in the diffusers. In this way, the phenomenon of mixing inside the tank is minimised.
